The compliance gap most businesses don't see
WorkSafe has found AEDs with expired pads, flat batteries, and devices that fail when actually used. Most business owners don't know there's a problem until an emergency happens or an auditor arrives.
Research shows 1 in 6 public AEDs aren't ready for use. The most common issue? Expired electrode pads that nobody checked. The second most common? No record that anyone ever checked at all.

South Australia: AED requirements from 2026
From January 2026, certain prescribed buildings in South Australia must install and maintain AEDs under the Automated External Defibrillators (Public Access) Act 2022. Buildings in scope must maintain devices "in accordance with manufacturer instructions" and keep appropriate records.
The question auditors will ask: Can you prove your AED was properly maintained? Defib Hound creates the compliance record you need.
